What Information We Collect

Any personal information you provide to us on our web site is maintained in private files on our secure Web server and our internal systems. We collect information when you register or update your account, log-in, place an order, opt-in to receive our emails, shop online, or participate in a survey. This information may include, but is not limited to, name, email address, billing and shipping address, credit card information and phone number.

How We Use Collected Information

When you place an order or make a purchase from tusk.com, we use your personal information to process your order, send you e-mails to confirm your order and to contact you via phone or e-mail to confirm your order.  Your personal information will be purged from our databases within 14 days after order completion unless you opt to create an online account or join our mailing list.

When you place an order, make a purchase or save your information online, we will use your e-mail and postal address to send you information about our products, services, contests, and promotions and to help us learn more about your shopping preferences. You always have the choice not to receive marketing information or calls.

Choice/Opt-Out

We allow you to decide whether you want to receive further marketing information from us. If you do not want Tusk to send to you announcements or special offers by email, please email us at hello@tusk.com with “Remove” in the subject line. If you’d like to be removed from our postal mailing list, please send your request to the following address: Mailing List, Tusk, Ltd., 242 West 26th Street, New York, NY 10001. Please allow up to two weeks for your request to be processed.

Certain Non-Marketing Uses

Subject to applicable law, we reserve the right to release information concerning any Site visitor where such visitor is believed to be in violation of his or her obligations to us, is partaking (or is suspected of partaking) in any illegal activity, in response to civil subpoenas and discovery requests, to protect the interests of Tusk, our customers or others, and as otherwise permitted or required by law.

How Your Information Is Stored

Tusk stores all personal data provided to us in a secure fashion. Sensitive data is encrypted and passed through SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to ensure the best protection from online identity theft.

Only a limited number of employees have access to personal data stored on our web server or in our databases. These employees access and use personal data for the sole purpose of fulfilling your order and providing quality customer service.

Tusk regularly advises its employees of the importance of safeguarding personal data. It is our policy not to disclose any personal data to any third party, except in very limited circumstances, as explained above. A violation of Tusk’s privacy policy is grounds for termination of employment.

Quality Customer Experience

Tusk is committed to quality customer service. Although you can place an order online, we still require order confirmation via telephone.  We are constantly reviewing your feedback so that we may improve and enhance your shopping experience. If you have any questions or comments, please call (1.888.GET.TUSK) or email (customerservice@tusk.com) us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Changes in Our Privacy Policy

If our information practices change in the future, we will post an updated policy on our website. You can tell if the policy has changed by checking the revision date that appears at the end of this policy. You may exercise your choices about how we collect and use your information at any time.

Effective: November 15, 2006
Last Revised: 11/15/06

Security Notice

We take the security of the information you provide us very seriously. Tusk employs the industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, along with a valid digital certificate issued and validated by a major Certification Authority (Thawte/VeriSign), to assure you that you are indeed connecting to servers maintained by Tusk Ltd. and to protect the security of your online order information. SSL encrypts your order information to protect it from being intercepted as it makes its way to the Tusk servers. In addition, we apply high-level encryption to particularly sensitive information such as credit card data while it is stored for order fulfillment.

Once you enter the Cart and Checkout areas, your browser connects to the Tusk servers in a secure mode. The following things may happen to indicate that your browser is communicating securely:

  • The “http://” in the web address will be replaced by “https://” (and this should always happen, no exceptions).
  • You may see either a locked padlock or a key in the lower right or upper right corner of your browser window or address bar.
  • Newer browsers sometimes colorize the address bar at the top of the browser window; however, this is merely an indication of an “Extended Validation” digital certificate which uses the same industry-standard SSL technology that Tusk also uses. It is not required that your address bar turn green for your connection to be considered safe.
  • Occasionally you may get a message saying that some of the data being transferred to your browser was not encrypted. For the Tusk website, this includes web traffic analysis scripts and sometimes graphics or site design data. This does not affect the safety of the information being sent from you to Tusk as long as the page is being routed through a secure channel (indicated by “https://” at the beginning of the browser’s address bar).

If you have any questions about our website security measures, please don’t hesitate to call Customer Service at 888.GET.TUSK (888.438.8875) or email customerservice@tusk.com. You are always welcome to place an order over the phone if you prefer.
